Frequently Asked Questions

How many people do you need for a group class?

Generally speaking, The more you have the less it costs - that said we can do just a few or very large numbers - cost will depend on how many you have and if it is virtual or in person; if we come to you, a factor will also be location.  With Virtual CPR/FA classes, we can always add you to a class to give you the best price. Contact us to discuss your exact situation to see what would work best for you.

Do you have to be a business or organization to book a CPR/First Aid class?

Not at all. We love teaching classes for neighborhood groups, extended families, book clubs, faith communities, and anyone who just wants to feel prepared. If you can gather people together, in person or virtually, we can teach a class. Community classes start at $25 per person virtually (without certification). If it's just you looking to take a class, we can add you to a virtual or in person class we're already teaching. Contact us to learn more!

Can we schedule a virtual class and still get certified?

Yes! You can complete the class instruction virtually, then schedule a brief in-person skill check to demonstrate your CPR technique hands-on if you are required to do so by your employer (or you would like to). The skill check is separate from the class itself and typically takes just a few minutes. If you only need the knowledge and don't require a certification card, the virtual class alone is all you need.

I'm a new parent. Is this class right for me?

Absolutely. Learning infant & child CPR is one of the most important things a new parent can do, and our classes are designed to make it approachable rather than overwhelming.

How do virtual classes work?

Virtual classes are held live online with Jerry as your instructor (not a pre-recorded video!). If you need certification, you'll complete the class instruction virtually and then schedule a brief in-person skill check to demonstrate your CPR technique hands-on if your employer requires it. If you don't need a certification card, you can do a virtual class or we can come to you.  Either way, you get the same instruction, the same content, and the same quality as an in-person class. You likely already have everything needed to complete the class around your house, even for the hands-on CPR demonstration. A pillow or stuffed animal can work!  We focus on technique which is the same no matter what you use.

Ready to learn CPR + First Aid the friendly way?

Whether you run a child care center, manage a dental office, or just want your family to be prepared, we'll make it easy and fun! Classes are available in person and virtually.

Or not sure which class is for you? Lisa can help you figure out exactly what you need: certification requirements, scheduling, group rates, and everything in between.

Jerry Buffman

Founder & Instructor

Jerry spent her career as a nurse/paramedic, working  in emergency & pediatric emergency at University of Michigan, critical care & coronary care in Anchorage, and the regional Burn Unit in Seattle.

Jerry started Dummies on the Run in 1985 with a simple idea: that small, friendly, accessible classes could reach the people that big institutional training never did. She still teaches every class herself.

Critical Care Nurse / Paramedic / ECSI Instructor

You make this class so much fun! I actually find myself looking forward to your class.
